Mallacoota is the most easterly township in far-east Gippsland, Victoria. See maps of how to get to Mallacoota and how to find Betka Beach – the start of the fun run. To the east of Mallacoota is the Cape Howe Marine National Park and Gabo Island, home to the largest colony of little penguins in the Southern Hemisphere. Mallacoota is surrounded by the Croajingolong National Park which stretches 100 kilometres along the far-eastern coastline.
You can walk the east coast of Victoria along the 100km length of the Wilderness Coast Walk from the Eastern Shores of Sydenham Inlet in Croajingolong National Park, to Wonboyn in Nadgee Nature Reserve, NSW.
In February 2013 a newly developed stretch of the iconic Wilderness Coast Walk opened in Mallacoota called the Mallacoota Coastal Walk. The Mallacoota Fun Run is held on this picturesque track between Betka Beach and Pebbly Beach.
